Valid language assessment strategies for culturally and linguistically diverse children Webinar (Register now)

Presenter(s): Teresa Girolamo, PhD

Although clinicians and researchers strive to conduct fair and equitable assessment, it is impossible to fully know each and every way in which culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) children are unique. This session provides an overview of an approach to interpret and use language assessment performance for CLD school-age individuals.

Although clinicians and researchers strive to conduct fair and equitable assessment, it is impossible to fully know each and every way in which culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) children are unique. This session provides an overview of an approach to interpret and use language assessment performance for CLD school-age individuals. In proactively considering individual identities of CLD individuals from pre- to post-assessment, clinicians and researchers can accumulate evidence to support valid conclusion-making about language ability. In turn, more valid conclusions lead to better decision-making and quality of care.
