			<p>The PLAI&ndash;2 assesses children&#39;s abilities to meet the demand of classroom discourse. Now including full-color artwork, it measures how effectively a child integrates cognitive, linguistic, and pragmatic abilities for adult-child exchanges. Teachers, speech-language pathologists, and special education professionals appreciate the multi-faceted information this tool provides.</p>

			<h4>Measure young children&#39;s discourse abilities</h4>
			The PLAI-2 offers two types of assessment:

			<h4>Norm-referenced (formal) assessment</h4>

			<p>Uses items that require matching, analysis, reordering, and reasoning by verbal and nonverbal responses. This assessment includes:<br />
			&bull; Four subtests that assess levels of abstraction<br />
			&bull; Two subtests that assess modes of response<br />
			&bull; Discourse Ability Score &ndash; Presents overall estimate of performance</p>

			<h4>Non-standard (informal) assessment</h4>

			<p>Provides two pragmatic measures:<br />
			<strong>&bull; Adequacy of Response&ndash;</strong>Evaluates the quality of the child&#39;s expressive language on a four-category scale<br />
			<strong>&bull; Interfering Behaviors&ndash;</strong>Quantifies two major patterns of behaviour that hamper interaction</p>
