The Children’s Depression Inventory 2 contains 28 items, each of which consists of three statements. For each item, the individual is asked to select the statement that best describes their feelings. The assessment is designed for a variety of situations, including schools, child guidance clinics, pediatric practices, and child psychiatric settings.

The CDI 2 normative sample includes 1,100 children aged 7 to 17 years from 26 different states in the U.S. Used by clinicians and counselors, The Children’s Depression Inventory 2 tests using two scales: Emotional Problems and Functional Problems. Four subscales are also reported:
