What is Q-global?

Q-global is Pearson's web-based system that consolidates the content and functionality of three legacy software systems (Q Local™, PsychCorpCenter, and ASSIST™) into one platform. The platform offers on-screen administration of assessments as well as scoring and reporting capabilities for a variety of assessments. Q-global can be described as Pearson's web-based system for administering on-screen assessments that do not require interaction between the clinician and client. The tool also offers a complete set of options for scoring, interpreting, and reporting assessment results.

Can I use Q-global in my Telepractice?

Yes, you can!
Conducting a valid assessment in a telepractice modality requires an understanding of the interaction between a number of complex issues.

The appropriateness of use of a specific assessment tool in the context of telepractice—along with several other important factors—should be considered carefully.

Before proceeding, please consult our Telepractice page for information.

How do I use Q-global to perform Remote On-Screen Administration (ROSA)?

Detailed Instructions

This information is provided within the Q-global Help files. For your convenience, the step-by-step instructions are provide below.

Some Q-global assessments provide the ability to administer a Remote On-Screen Administration (ROSA).

  • Assign an Assessment to an Examinee.
  • Complete the required fields and any additional information.
  • Select the Remote On-Screen Administration radio button as the delivery method.
  • Complete the required fields for the ROSA (start date, expiration date, and recipient information).
  • Click the Preview and Send Invitation button. The Assessment Invitation Email page will display for your viewing.

Assessment Invitation Email

  • Complete the required fields (for example, the recipient name, email, or subject line). Verify that the email address entered is correct.
  • Click the Send Invitation button. A confirmation message will display.
  • Click Close.

Customize the Assessment Invitation Email

You have the ability to create customized assessment invitation email letters to meet your organization's needs.

Create a custom template:

  • Make any changes to the body of the email.
  • Click the Save as New Template button. A pop-up window displays.
  • Enter a Template Name.
  • Select the Type (Private, Public to this Account, or Public to All Accounts).

Add a Token to the Template

You also have the ability to add/remove tokens (commonly known as a data source) to the body of the email letter. The token uses information from your data source and inserts it into the body of the email. All Q-global templates have embedded tokens. They are displayed in a set of brackets { } (see images below for an example).

Add a Token:

  • Place your cursor in the body of the email template and locate it where you want the new token to appear.
  • Click the Token link on the toolbar at the top of the email template. A pop-up window appears.
  • Select a token from the list. The pop-up window closes.
  • The new token now appears in the template.

Remove a Token:

  • Locate the token in the body of the email template.
  • Place your cursor behind or in front of the token.
  • Click the backspace button (or delete button) to remove the token (remember to also delete the "{ }" symbols).

Email Notification

The Q-global system sends email notifications for assessments that are administered as ROSAs. Once an assessment is complete, a notification email is sent (in real time) to the user who assigned the assessment to the examinee.

What is the difference between Q-global and Q-Local?

Q-global is a web-based system that offers scoring and reporting capabilities for a variety of assessments as well as On-Screen Administration (OSA) of assessments, or Remote On-Screen Administration, where available (ROSA).

Q Local is a, desktop-based system that offers on-screen administration of assessments and scoring and reporting capabilities for assessments such as the MMPI-2-RF®, MCMI-III™, MBMD™, and others.

In this regard, Q-global can be described as an expansion of Q Local's functionality and content, offered in a web-based format.

I'm not used to paying for reports on a per-use basis. How can I order reports conveniently without having to go through my purchasing department every time I need to use one?

Ordering report usages for Q-global™ should function identically to how orders are processed for other per-use components of the assessment process, such as record forms, answer sheets, and response booklets. These are items that are ordered in the same per-use format by organizations large and small, public and private. Q-global usages purchased are no different from this, except for the fact that they are digital items and are delivered virtually rather than paper items physically shipped to the customer.

To address any organizational barriers or challenges to purchasing usages in this way, many Q-global reports are being developed to include bundled options with the corresponding record forms that can be purchased as one item. Visit each product's web page to see various purchase options suitable for different customers and settings.

I bought scoring software from Pearson that provides unlimited reporting. Are you going to force me to start using Q-global instead and pay an additional per-use fee?

No. If you are already using one of Pearson's legacy desktop-based scoring and reporting programs, you WILL NOT be required to use Q-global. These programs will continue to operate normally for the foreseeable future and you may choose to continue using them if you wish. It should be noted, however, that as assessment content is migrated to the Q-global platform, two things will occur that customers should be made aware of:

  • Immediately after migrating to Q-global, legacy software programs (PsychCorpCenter and ASSIST™) will cease to be offered for purchase in their desktop-based format. This means that all new purchasers will only have the option of purchasing these programs in Q-global. See the FAQ question and response below for more details.
  • Shortly after migrating to Q-global™, legacy software programs (PsychCorpCenter and ASSIST™) will cease to receive ongoing support and maintenance from a systems technology perspective. This means that as new operating systems are released by software makers, Pearson will no longer provide system updates to these legacy programs to ensure their continued functioning for desktop-based use. The major exception to this policy will be the treatment of Q Local™ and its continued support in the market for the foreseeable future. See the FAQ question and response below for details about how you will be able to migrate your Q Local data to Q-global.

I don't have access to the internet in my organization. Can I perform my scoring and reporting activities using Q-global?

No. As a web-based system, Q-global is not currently a viable solution for professionals operating in settings with limited or no internet access. For these organizations, it is recommended that they continue to use Pearson's legacy desktop-based systems (PsychCorpCenter, ASSIST, and Q Local) to meet their ongoing administration, scoring, and reporting needs.

As stated above, these systems will continue to operate for the time-being as customers make the transition to a more internet-connected workplace, and Pearson develops long-term support plans. Moving forward, all new content developed for computer-based environments will reside online via Q-global.

How does Q-global protect my clients' data security and privacy?

Examinee data on Q-global is protected through technical, physical, and administrative security controls, including encryption of data both in-transit and at-rest. The examinee data is stored on servers located in a secure cloud environment, with the underlying data centers located in Canada. Data stored in databases is encrypted with industry-standard encryption technology.

When data is transmitted over the network, it is encrypted using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology. The system uses secure database platforms that segregate customer records, ensuring they cannot be accessed by other customers. This segregation is confirmed through routine testing as part of our system development lifecycle (SDLC) processes. Customer access to Q-global requires a user ID and password, for which the customer is responsible to safeguard. To this end, the customer is encouraged to change their password every 90 days and whenever there is concern about its possible compromise. Q-global is periodically subjected to audits, both internal and external, that confirm security controls are designed effectively.

I have many existing test reports saved on my Q Local system. Can I move those reports over to Q-global free of charge?

Yes, please contact technical support for assistance at 800-249-0659
