This on-demand training is designed for medical professionals, psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and other allied health professionals involved in assessing, diagnosing, and supporting clients with ASD and their families.
Course Description
This module continues your exploration and development of a solid approach to differential diagnosis, but with a focus on older clients rather than children. Through case studies on adolescents and adults, the module examines comparisons between ASD and mental health difficulties more commonly present in these populations. Several documents are provided as tools to add structure and reliability to your assessment approach.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this module, participants will be able to:
- Communicate their understanding of differential diagnosis and why it is challenging in ASD assessment
- Review case studies of adolescent and adult clients
- Understand obstacles to assessment and diagnosis in adults and learn from suggested approaches
- Apply best practice guidance on decision-making within ASD diagnosis
