WAIS 5 Canadian Edition Standardization Study (Examiner)

Information for Examiners

Pearson Clinical Assessment is currently seeking professionals and supervised graduate students in the fields of psychology, special education, or psychometrics, to collaborate with us as examiners on the WAIS 5-CDN Standardization Study. The standardization study is expected to begin in Summer 2025 and continue until early 2026. Examiners can participate as their schedule allows.

To enroll as an Examiner, you must meet our eligibility criteria, including holding a customer qualification level C and/or be supervised by someone who is qualification level C and/or has a demonstrated history of test administration experience. Examiners may also be supervised trainees (e.g., post-doctoral or senior-level graduate students pursuing a graduate-level degree in psychology, special education, or psychometrics). If you are unsure whether you meet the criteria to be an Examiner with Pearson, please fill out the form anyway – we will contact you if we need additional information! What is an Examiner?

Examiners are:

Professionals working or training in the fields of psychology, education, etc.
Independent Contractors who collect test cases for Pearson out in their communities.

What is the role of an Examiner?

The role of the Examiner is that of an independent contractor. Your primary roles will be:

Recruitment of Participants: Eligible participants are between the ages 16 and 90 and must reside in Canada. Pearson must approve all potential participants before assessment. In some cases, Pearson may also have participants in your area who sign up to be a part of the study; in this case, we would ask if you were interested/available to administer the assessment(s). Testing Pearson-recruited participants is optional.
Test Administration: All testing sessions are scheduled by you and can be completed at an agreed-upon time and place that is convenient for you and the participant. In addition to the WAIS assessment, there is also the opportunity to administer validity assessments, such as the WIAT-4-CDN and WAIS-IV-CDN. Administration of validity assessments is optional.

As an Examiner, you will be paid for each approved and complete case that is submitted. For more details on payments specific to the WAIS study, please reach out to the Research Team. All communication and exchanges between Examiners and the Pearson Research Team will be carried out by email, phone, mail or virtual meetings; no in-person training or attendance is required. However, your assessment sessions with participants will take place in-person, as the test must be administered in the standardized paper format.     

Pearson will provide each Examiner with a WAIS 5-CDN Standardization Kit which includes all necessary materials, as well as prepaid mailing envelopes so you can return completed cases. Participants of the study are also compensated for their participation: they are paid directly by Pearson via digital gift card.
