Universal Screeners

Universal screening is a critical step in identifying students who are at risk for social-emotional and behavioural issues.

Educators use the results to identify which students are at risk and the most appropriate next steps and share the results with families.

BASC™-3 BESS

The BASC-3 Behavioural and Emotional Screening System is designed for schools, mental health clinics, pediatric clinics, communities, and researchers to screen for a variety of behavioural and emotional disorders that can lead to adjustment problems.

Benefits

• Assesses a wide array of behaviours that represent both behavioural problems and strengths
• Forms can be completed in approximately five minutes or less, without the need for specialized training
• Includes Spanish-language versions of the parent and student self-report forms
• Provides a Total Score that is a reliable and accurate predictor of a broad range of behavioural, emotional and academic problems
• Includes indexes that identify responses that may be overly negative or inconsistent

Features

The BASC-3 BESS consists of three brief forms that range from 25 to 30 items and can be completed by teachers, parents, or students.

• Teacher form with two levels: Preschool (for ages 3 through 5) and Child/Adolescent (for Grades K through 12)
• Student self-report form with one level: Child/Adolescent (for Grades 3 through 12)
• Parent form with two levels: Preschool (for ages 3 through 5) and Child/Adolescent (for Grades K through 12)
• Requires no formal training for the raters and can be administered in just 5-10 minutes.
• Normed on a representative sample that closely matches recent U.S. Census population characteristics.

SSIS™ SEL

The SSIS SEL Edition provides evidence-based tools to assess and teach skills in each of the five SEL competencies:

• Self-Awareness
• Self-Management
• Social Awareness
• Relationship Skills
• Responsible Decision Making

Benefits

• Provides universal intervention for students ages 4 through 14 years and can also be used for small groups in Tier 2 and 3 interventions.
• Fully aligned with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework.
• Complimentary access to downloadable classroom resources (e.g., digital lessons, cue cards, reports, parent letters, etc.)
• SSIS SEL Edition Classwide Intervention Program (CIP) is the only solution of its kind to also teach skills known to improve academics.

Components of SSIS SEL on Review360

1. Progress Monitoring Scale: A criterion-referenced teacher-completed form that provides a quick evaluation of an entire class across the five SEL areas. The results are directly aligned with the Skill Units from the Class-wide Intervention Program that includes a criterion-referenced assessment of three academic areas, providing guidance that targets interventions to the specific needs of a classroom of students.
2. Rating Forms: More in-depth norm-referenced assessments administered individually and completed by teachers, parents, or students. Results include standard scores, item analysis, and links to suggested Skill Units in the intervention.
3. SSIS SEL Classwide Intervention Program 2020 (CIP): The SSIS SEL CIP 2020 now includes 30 Skill Units covering Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making using a highly effective instructional approach with all digital materials (PowerPoints, videos, etc.) to maximize engagement.
4. Review360 SEL Professional Development Course: Review360 includes an online SEL course that assists educators in integrating SEL assessment and instruction into their instructional and support processes. The course is comprised of 13 units that cover a range of relevant topics, including the importance of SEL, how it improves student-teacher and student relationships, and strategies for promoting SEL.

Features

The SSIS SEL encompasses the full assessment cycle and is the only SEL measure to also assess key academic skill areas. Each unit features six instructional phases:

Shaywitz DyslexiaScreen

The Shaywitz DyslexiaScreen emphasizes phonological, linguistic, and academic performance from teacher observations or, in the case of adolescents and adults, from self-ratings of past and current performance.

Benefits

• Identify dyslexia risk quickly and easily administration in just a few minutes per rating.
• Screen individuals or groups as well as individual and group reporting.
• Easily interpret and communicate results using simple classifications (e.g., “At Risk for Dyslexia” or “Not At Risk for Dyslexia”).
• A teacher-friendly (K-3) or self-report (Adolescent-Adult/Corrections) rating form.
• Digital administration and scoring, integrated with larger Pearson systems.
• Good to Excellent levels of sensitivity, specificity, and AUC based on Sally and Bennett Shaywitz Connecticut Longitudinal Study and Pearson validation studies.
• Provide support for families as they work on language-based skills critical for reading success.

Content & Features

Currently, the Shaywitz DyslexiaScreen includes six individual forms across the age range. For Grades K-3 (Forms 0-3), a teacher completing Shaywitz DyslexiaScreen rates statements regarding a student's language and frequency of academic behaviors. For Adolescent-Adult and Corrections Forms, the individual self-rates. The Shaywitz DyslexiaScreen includes four forms:

• Form 0 is for teachers of students ages 5:0 through 6:11, typically in kindergarten, and consists of 10 items.
• Form 1 is for teachers of students ages 6:0 through 7:11, typically in Grade 1, and consists of 12 items.
• Form 2 is for teachers of students ages 7:0 through 8:11, typically in Grade 2, and consists of 10 items.
• Form 3 is for teachers of students age 8:0 - 9:11, typically in Grade 3, and consists of 10 items.
• The Adolescent-Adult Form is for individuals age 14-65 and consists of 10 items.
• The Corrections Form is for incarcerated individuals age 18-65 and consists of 10 items.
