What do people mean when they talk about performance assessment or authentic assessment, also referred to as observational assessment? How is this type of assessment different from other types of assessment? Why is observational assessment so valuable, especially for young children? This one-hour webinar will describe how to use observation skills in the natural environment of young children to determine what each child knows and can do. The presenter will describe what we can learn about children by carefully watching them, listening to them, and studying their work. Participants will learn how to document factual observations, and how to interpret the documented evidence to make instructional decisions.
