This learning track consists of four modules and is approximately 3 hours long and is available for one year. This offering introduces the theoretical foundation and structure of the MBMD assessment, its basic interpretive sequence, and use of the assessment with bariatric and pain patient populations.

Audience: This learning track is targeted for all users of the MBMD who want to increase their knowledge of the assessment via a self-paced module.

Course description: This learning track consists of four modules and is approximately 3 hours long. This curriculum introduces the theoretical foundation and structure of the MBMD assessment, its basic interpretive sequence, and use of the assessment with bariatric and pain patient populations. Participants are eligible to earn 3 APA CEs and will have access to this course for one year.

  • Understanding of imperative role of personality in medical patient assessment
  • Recognition of importance of behavioral health testing
  • Review of the development of the Millon Behavioral Medicine Diagnostic (MBMD)
  • Introduction to the MBMD structure, inclusive of a review of the sections and scales

Program 2

  • Introduction to Millon Evolutionary Theory
  • Application of theory for deepening understanding of persons in MBMD assessment
  • Instructions of basic interpretive sequence and considerations for MBMD assessment

Program 3

  • Understanding purpose of major domains of the MBMD
  • Elaboration of interactive nature of MBMD scales and sections for integrative assessment
  • Introduction to new directions in MBMD assessment

Program 4

  • Describe the importance of psychosocial assessment for patients experiencing chronic pain
  • Compare raw score means on the MBMD for general medical norm sample and the chronic pain sample
  • Discuss components of the Pain Patient Report
